Welcome to GrΓ‘ agus Sonas Creations.

GrΓ‘ agus Sonas Creations was founded and created in 2017 by Christina.

She lives with her husband, daughter and their pet dog in the beautiful seaside town of Rush, Co. Dublin in Ireland.

Christina’s passion is to create decorative, sustainable, modern fibre art for peoples home's using the art of macrame.

Christina finds working with macramΓ© very therapeutic.  Its starts with a drawing of a design/pattern, deciding what elements to use to create the piece. Cutting the cord, attaching it to the driftwood / hoop and then starting the knotting process. Magic!

What is the meaning behind the name GrΓ‘ agus Sonas Creations ?

GrΓ‘ agus Sonas means β€˜Love and Happiness’ in the Irish language and takes its origin from words that mean the most to Christina. It also represents how she feels when creating a piece and what she would like her customers to experience when they hang their very own GrΓ‘ agus Sonas Creation.

All our macrame pieces are handmade by using knotting techniques that are centuries old.

Made with environmentally friendly, sustainable, plastic free and natural materials such as natural cotton cord, recycled coloured cotton cord and driftwood. With the combination of these materials, knotting techniques and made with love and happiness, our pieces can last a life-time.

  • Natural Cotton Cord

Using only 100% natural cotton cord to create layers of comforting textures by ways of different patterns, tassels and fringing. Cotton is grown from the earth and is a natural fibre, which makes it sustainable, renewable, and biodegradable. All cord is sourced from the EU.

  • Recycled Coloured Cotton Cord

The coloured cotton cord we use in our pieces is made from recycled cotton. Recycled cotton is primary made from pre-used cotton or other cotton fabrics (such as clothing scraps) then converted into cotton rope and string. Our coloured cord is sourced from a small family run business based in Spain.

  • Driftwood

Our driftwood is sourced while walking the local beaches and wooded areas of Rush, Co. Dublin. The driftwood / branches are then cleaned and sanded down to create a unique smoothed piece of wood to use for our wall hangings.
